Placide - Simmons

Christella Gail Placide and Claude Ray Simmons Jr. were married on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009. The bride is the daughter of Debra Polk Placide and Arthur Placide of New Iberia and the groom is the son of Mary and Claude Simmons of New Iberia. Officiating at the candlelight ceremony was the Rev. Eric Mitchell.

Escorted by her mom, Debra, and her brother, Marlon Placide, the bride wore an ivory-colored, silk A-line gown with a pearl necklace. For her headpiece, she wore an ivory-colored tiara supporting a cathedral-length veil. She carried a bouquet of Sangria-colored and silver roses.

Jenari Placide, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Shavonne Eugene served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Tyra James, Lakendra Tyler, Ronetta Melton and Artessa Martin. Junior bride was Xaviera Simmons, daughter of the bride and groom. Lalya Latulas, niece of the bride, served as flower girl. Cleveland Latulas III, nephew of the bride, served as ring bearer.

Best man was Deaon Joseph. Groomsmen were Kenneth Butler, Archie James, Earl Tyler, John Porter and Derrick James. Junior groom was Willie Stansbury Jr., godchild of the bride. Joseph Noel served as usher. Other members of the bridal party included Derriyon James, Torrie Mitchell, April James and Missy Channette.

A reception was held for family and friends at the Ramada Inn. Following a wedding trip to the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Youngville.
