Pre-kindergarten teacher Karen Meche said the athletes were divided among the classes and read Jady Regard’s book “Born to be a Ragin Cajun” to the eager students.
The college student-athletes later presented principal Janis Wilson with an original, signed softball helmet. Football and basketball posters were also presented, as well as signed copies of “Born to be a Ragin Cajun.”

However, thanks to efforts by Meche and others at Magnolia Elementary School, seven photographs and a full description of the day’s fun are on the newspaper’s Web site, www.iberianet.com, in a new section called “School News.”
When a user logs on to the main page, they can click on the “People” link at the top of the page. That link takes Web viewers to a page, which has the “School News” link highlighted at the top.
Once clicking on “School News,” Web viewers can read the latest updates in the section or submit their own school news for publication.
The section has been updated nine times this week and will continue to fill with news about Teche Area students as the weeks go by.
A special thanks goes out to Magnolia Elementary School staff for their help in passing along the fun aspects of Tuesday’s exciting day. Also, thank you ULL athletics for allowing your best and brightest to positively influence our young students.
