Vida Bridge???

It's been a long, long time since any word has been spoken to the public about the future of the "Historic" Vida Bridge.  All we locals know is that there is no crossing of any vehicular or foot traffic possible at this time, nor has there been  for quite sometime.  Does this "Historic" bridge still qualify as a bridge? Who will make a determination, and when, as to the future of this crossing? How will funding for whatever happens be acquired? Anyone??

" YES INDEED!!! They drink alot of beer &party hardy around that bridge, alot of younger guys' to be exact, they are all too busy to worry of the bridge anymore. They are all being watched by the law. Supply the beer & all the materials and maybe they can fix the bridge!!!! "

" It's not a bridge any more. Now it is a hazard to navigation. Now it is a pile of junk in the middle of the bayou. A bridge is a structure that bridges a gap. This pile of junk isn't bridging anything. Those who "fought" to save it have lost interest or they would do something to preserve it. It is not being preserved. It is rotting in the water. "

" It seems the folks who were all fired up over the removal of their beloved historic site have gone on to other issues. The bridge's closest neighbor has some really important beer to drink. These guys are the poster boys for short attention span disorder. Here we are living in times of crisis, yet these people can come up with nothing better to worry about than a junky bridge. It must be nice to have nothing better to worry about (like working for a living, for instance). Get a life! "

" WHAT is so important about saving some old HAND-CRANKED bridge that is obsolete???
At a time when we have record setting deficits some people want to spend money on a hunk of scrap iron that does nothing but cost money to operate and maintain!!! If it were a covered wooden bridge or a stone bridge I could understand!!! WHAT is so special about this bridge???
Is it just a few people who live there that want the convenience of having a bridge there and the public has to pay for a few???? "
