Mrs. Flynn passed away on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009. A native of central Louisiana, Mrs. Flynn grew up in Pineville and was a longtime resident of Alexandria. She and her family later moved to Mansfield, where they lived for many years before moving to their current home in New Iberia. Mrs. Flynn attended USL, where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority, as well as Louisiana College, where she graduated with a degree in psychology. In her lifetime, she was an active member with the Cabrini Auxiliary in Alexandria handling finances for the gift shop. She supported the local Brownie troops, in both Alexandria and Mansfield, as a “Cookie Mom,” annually filling the living room with as many as 1,800 boxes of cookies. She volunteered extensively for the Mansfield Gifted and Talented program, as well as the PTA, church activities and other local programs. She was also an active member of the DAR, DCW and the Junior League of Alexandria. She was fiercely intelligent, a loving wife and mother, an avid reader, and an excellent cook, known among friends for her gold brick fudge.
Mrs. Flynn is survived by her husband, Michael Lambert Flynn of New Iberia; daughters Jennie Lauriane Winsett of Tomball, Texas, and Pamela Elise Flynn Boggs of Columbia, Tenn., and two grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Craton Alcus Kennedy Jr. of Sonora, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, Craton Alcus and Jennie Eloise DeNux Kennedy.
