Deputies arrested Brandon Jones, 25, 614 Mississippi St., for drug possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Jones was arrested by Iberia Parish law enforcement agents at 631 Mississippi St., a nearby residence where the alleged narcotics shaped in large blocks were found wrapped in brown paper and plastic bags.
“We’ve been working on this for a while,” said Sheriff Louis Ackal.

“This is a substation for this area,” Ackal said. “This is like a weekly distribution for this neighborhood and more.”
Another search warrant was served at a nearby residence shortly after the initial arrest, with a K-9 unit investigating adjacent vehicles, but no additional narcotics were discovered, Ackal said.
“We believe that one of the vehicles was used to transport the drugs, but none were found,” he said.
After the warrant was served Jones was held until the evidence was gathered and cataloged, then taken for booking into the Iberia Paris Jail. An unidentified woman at the 631 Mississippi residence was taken into custody initially but later released.
Ackal said the Drug Enforcement Administration has been notified of the arrest and seizure.
The seized marijuana is suspected of having been brought to the area from across state lines and the federal agency can help local law enforcement officials under those conditions.
“We called the DEA to try to track back the drugs,” Ackal said. He said he and his deputies work closely with the DEA, the FBI task force, the U.S. Marshals Service and U.S. Customs, with parish agents assigned to work with each organization.

You made a comment "How is that Obama thing working for you? " Could you elaborate on that statement for me. This article was supposed to be addressing a drug issue in our local community, which affects everyone in Iberia Parish. Until people learn to put their social differences aside, our community can never reach its full potential. Thanks! A Concerned Veteran! "

Are you serious? A wonderful human being? This guy was selling drugs, probably to kids at that. I surely hope you were kidding. If he were my family member I would feel the same about them too. He's a loser just like all the other drug dealers in this town. There is no way he made a 300 pound mistake. Come on now really. "
