Visiting hours will be observed at the church on Saturday from 8 a.m. until time of service. Mr. Huntsberry was affectionately known as "Poppa" to his grandchildren and "Rawhide" to his friends. He was the seventh of 10 children born to Edward Huntsberry and Elizabeth Richmond Huntsberry on June 6, 1911, in Abbeville where he grew up. In 1932, Alfred married Lillie Mae Boudoin known as "Mary" and 13 children were born to their union. A resident of Abbeville, he passed away at 4:20 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at LTAC of Abbeville (Abbeville General Hospital).
He leaves to cherish his sweet memories, four sons Alfred Huntsberry Jr. (Alma)) of Dallas, Delfred Huntsberry (Nolia) and Kenneth Huntsberry of Abbeville and Ricky Huntsberry (Crystal) of Lafayette; five daughters Sherry Thomas (Ray Larry), Carol H. Hill, Mary Faye Huntsberry and Equilla Huntsberry, all of Abbeville and Margaret Henderson (Glenn) of Houston; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, a special niece Charlotte “Polly” Lee and his very close and dear friends Mr. Rene Demochet, Mr. C. J. Thibeaux and Mr. Charles Campbell and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Mae Boudoin Huntsberry; three sons Edward Huntsberry, Wilfred Huntsberry and Lee Huntsberry; one daughter Geraldine Broussard; and his parents, Edward Huntsberry and Elizabeth Richmond Huntsberry.
