CHS eighth, ESA ninth in tourney

CADE -- St. Joseph’s Academy from Baton Rouge beat Notre Dame of Crowley 18-25, 25-19, 15-11 Saturday to claim the annual Spooktacular Tournament hosted by ESA.

The Redstickers swept all three games in pool play, beating Catholic High (25-19, 25-13), St. Michael’s (25-19, 25-17) and Assumption (18-25, 25-16, 15-7) to advance to the finals.

Catholic High finished with one win and two losses in the tournament as the Lady Panthers, in addition to the game with St. Joseph’s, closed out the regular season with a win over St. Michael’s (22-25, 25-10, 15-13) Friday and lost to Comeaux (25-13, 26-24) Saturday.

CHS finished in eighth place.

Host ESA lost to St. Louis (25-16, 25-19) Friday, then beat Dunham (25-12, 25-19) and Northlake Christian (25-6, 25-13) Saturday. The Lady Falcons were ninth in the tournament.

Catholic High’s Lanie Lissard and ESA’s Adrian Brown were named to the All-Tournament team.

Both Catholic High in Division IV and ESA in Divison V, will be in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association playoffs which begin this week.

Their respective opponents will be announced Monday when the brackets are released.
