Does anyone remember what was located in that store before it became Broughton's Grocery Store and who owned it? Also, just a little farther down Main Street there was a very small liquor store. Does anyone remember the name of it and who owned it?

" the old broughton grocery store was once owned by the gaines, the gaines had a store there during the years of the 1950's, during the years of 1940's and 1950's it was owned by the GAines family and during world war II the gaines had a grocery store there. "

" Floyd and Ethel Davis Caulkin had the old store before Mr. PW. The Caulkin's still own the old building. The Broughton's bought the lot next to the old store and built a new store which houses the DMV today.
The Broughton's what great people! "

" I remember alot about Broughtons Grocery. Our family did all there grocery buying then. At that time we had a large family and were able to charge there, not something you see now a days. We spent alot of time there, since Mr Broughton(Mr PW) also had a gun shop in the back. I remember a few times while my dad was in the gun shop we would help sack the onions and potatoes to be sold. Matter of fact Lucien the youngest son has The Landing Restaurant in Bayou Landing. "

" Yep, remember that store well. Spent a lot of time in there. Mr. Broughton and ran it with his family. There were a bunch of brothers and sisters, John, Lucian, Liz, Mary, Molly. I'm sure I left a few out. Mr. Broughton had a .50 cal mounted in there...they were some really nice people. I miss them and their store. "

" The Caulkins must have owned a lot of the property in that area. I was told that the Broughton's store was previously a grocery store owned by the Caulkins. "
