I am wondering what are they building on the old lot of Hubertville Grocery (across the street from the new store). They are leveling the land off. I hope it is a chain restaurant, that would be so good.

Can anyone tell me? Thanks so much!!

" These chains are franchises and not corporate. So if I wanted to open up a chain of restaurants, I can. Why not set the bar high and allow them to open up, so others will follow? Make Jeanerette grow and not remain a small town. "

" Why in the world would any mayor, anywhere, not allow a business to open in his/her town? Subway or any other chain restaurant will not now nor ever open in Jeanerette. These chains only open in cities of a certain size and the size is determined by population. It is so true that nothing is ever supported by the citizens of Jeanerette, that is why nothing can stay open, not to mention break-ins and high crime rate in Jeanerette. "

" It would be very nice to have a chain or any type of restaurant in Jeanerette but the people of Jeanerette have proven many times over that they do not patronize these restaurants enough to make it profitable for them to stay there. There have been a few restaurants that have opened but had to close it's doors due to lack of business. A business is opened to make money and if there is no money to be made, they won't come. "

" Mayor Arthur Verret will not allow any chain restaurants there. At one time, someone wanted to open a Subway Restaurant downtown, but city hall wouldn't approve permits. I guess the padding of his pockets wasn't big enough or even present. Instead, he allows mom and pop restaurants to open, only to close after a year. Politics as usual in Jeanerette. "

" Family Dollar is moving out of the shopping center into a new building across from Hubertville Express. This is what the construction is about. "

" The dollar store is moving there, as if they need to do that. I think the city (or whoever) wastes a whole lot of money. I a chain restaurant would be great but it probably wouldn't make it in Jeanerette. "

" I heard one of the dollar stores was moving there. Dunno if its true or not. A chain restruant would be nice, but I dont think theres enough people to keep it in operation. "
