Bullock, Theriot voted week eight’s Players of the Week BY CHRIS LANDRYThe Daily Iberian Catholic High quarterback Taylor Bullock matched his school record six touchdown passes in a game, playing only the first half of the Panthers’ 70-0 win over District 6-3A rival West St. Mary last week. Teche Area football fans took note of that performance, voting Bullock the Dauterive Hospital/Daily Iberian Offensive Player of the Week in a weekly poll on The Daily Iberian Web site, www.iberianet.com. Bullock, who threw for six touchdowns in the Panthers’ season-opening 63-24 win over Jeanerette, earned 42 percent of the vote from fans for the eighth week of the football season. His efforts were voted tops in the area, beating out running back B.J. Greene of Loreauville, who ran for 153 yards and three touchdowns in the Tigers’ 21-13 District 6-2A win at Port Barre. Greene finished with 33 percent of the vote. Jeanerette running back Anthony Williams, who rushed for 221 yards and two touchdowns in the Tigers’ 16-8 win over District 6-2A rival Ville Platte, received 15 percent of the vote. Catholic High tight end Cory Brodie, who had four touchdown receptions, netted 5 percent of teh vote. Delcambre running back Jorey Renard, who gained 75 yards on 14 carries in the Panthers’ 7-3 win against Vermilion Catholic, despite being sick, had 4 percent of the vote. On defense, the vote came down to a pair of Loreauville players and a Catholic High stalwart, with the Tigers’ Si Theriot finishing on top of a tight three-way vote with 39 percent of the vote. Theriot had 14 tackles and broke up two passes in the Tigers’ district win. Teammate Jake Delcambre, a senior linebacker, finished second in the voting with 32 percent after making 19 tackles, including two for loss. Catholic High’s Ridge Miguez finished with 29 percent of the vote. Fans nominate players for offensive and defensive honors online at The Daily Iberian’s Web site, and the top nominees are selected for inclusion in the poll.
