The death of 3-year-old Silas James Gautreaux could be linked to the H1N1 virus, his mother, Chayla Levine Gautreaux said Friday morning. The toddler died Wednesday at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia.

“After he died they tested again,” Chayla Gautreaux said. “They did a swab and found he had Type A and Type B viruses.”

" The swab producing Type A AND Type B viruses is of GREAT Concern here. I hope this news story does not become burried. Two viruses in the same prson can combine into one new virus. I do not want to think that this could be the outcome. If so, it could be infecting people "under the radar" so to speak due to limited testing of cases. The family and friends, need to be followed up on for symptoms. If symptoms appear, I hope they will be swabed and sent off to Atlanta! "

" i am good friends with chayla's best friend....i want to say that chayla is a great mom and this bs about abuse is ridiculus and not true at all...i would put my reputation on the line for her. its terrible that anyone would assume this without knowing anything about the situation. "

" to "MJ" why would your first comment be that they were holding the body for abuse??? That shows how stupid you are. Dont you realize the epidemic of swine flu that is going around ? would you rather them not test further and have a member of your family die from the swine flu?? May this child rest in Jesus' arms. "

" I find it repulsive that this situation is being broadcast like its no big deal. I sympathize with the family who is mourning the death of a child. This situation should not have been publicized. It is not the public's business if a second autopsy is being conducted. I feel sorry for the family members who have to go through this at such a difficult time. My prayers are with them...... "

" If the childs body is being held due to an abuse allegation investigation, it is highly possible that indicators of abuse were noted at autopsy. It would be the duty of the Parish officials to investigate such findings. "

" I heard on the news last night that after the funeral they are requesting that the body be turned over for more investigating because of reports of abuse. I am not sure what will become of this but it was on KATC news. God bless this poor child. "
