Policing Health Care Fraud

This morning I read an article in The Readers Digest that was titled"OUTRAGEOUS Health Care Fraud.

It pointed out how $92.8 million in the previous seven years had been paid out for the Medicare program for doctors who were DEAD!!! More than 50,000 bogus claims involved doctors who had been deceased for at least 10 years!!! A podiatrist billed the government for treating people with no feet!!!

The National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association estimates that $60 BILLION a year is lost to fraud!!!

A "pharmacist" was an air-conditioning repair man,his office was actually a broom closet!!!

Why dosen't the government offer people rewards of 10% of whatever they discover in Health Care Fraud??? The people could provide a valuable service investigating Health Care billings and exposing fraud and make money for themselves while handing over crooks for prosecution and saving billions for taxpayers!!!

This practice would work for people who are receiving government benefits fraudulently like disability,or any other kind of government assistance.

The government could set up a web site with billings listed where they were billed & by whom and all of the public would be aware whether the doctors were alive in their home towns and whether the supposed pharmacist was a pharmacist or a repair man!!!!

The president says that he will save billions in waste and fraud to fund his takeover of Health Care but if this waste and fraud has been here for ALL these years why NOW does he propose to start saving???The BIGGER the involvment of the GOVERNMENT the BIGGER the FRAUD & WASTE!!!!

Give the taxpayers a chance to root out the FRAUD & WASTE !!! Then you will see it reduced!!!!

I wish Libertarians had a well funded party that could compete nationally! I would indeed vote for them, but until they do we will have to accept the lesser of two evils!!! "

" NOCajun, you got it right. The Republican'ts and the Demadon'ts (love me some Garland Robinette) have both been on the same mission to grow the federal government into a huge bureaucratic trash heap. Anyone who calls themselves conservative from a fiscal or constitutional stand-point must see that neither of the two major parties have any sense of responsibility to the taxpayers. They only appease the "poor" and the extremely wealthy...while the rest of us go to work every day and hope for the best.

    VOTE LIBERTARIAN! "

" There has been no appreciable effort to diminish government waste and fraud to date...by ANY politician. Waste, fraud, and the Federal government are inseparable. The more the national government grows, the more waste and fraud grows.
It boggles my mind how anyone could want their health care and ultimately their lives in the hands of the bureaucrats of the Federal government. "
