EMPLoY, or Educational Mission to Prepare Louisiana’s Youth, is a pilot program that supports students age 16 and older, who are functioning at a 7th grade level or higher. These students, with the consent of their parents, have opted out of the traditional school setting to enter the GED/Skills Option Program. 

I just wanted to post something positive for all to see.

JAG - Job's for America's Graduates had a leadership conference yesterday in Alexandria Louisiana at the SAI Convention Center. The conference was a place for students to learn and compete for State offices in the JAG program. Five of the six officers from the New Iberia area particiapted. Their names are Kevia Broussard (President), Franchester Reed (Secretary), Tierra Hall (VP of Leadership Development,), Monalisa Joseph (VP of Career Development), and Brenzil Plowden (VP of Social Awareness). Unable to attend becuase of prior Educational Commitments was Amber Romero (VP of Civic Awareness).

Jobs for America’s Graduates-Louisiana, or JAG-LA, is a dropout prevention and recovery program that delivers a unique set of services to at-risk students age 12 and older. For students participating in the program who are still enrolled in a traditional school setting, JAG seeks to assist them in successfully earning a high school diploma. For students who have previously dropped out of school, JAG is intended to assist them in earning a GED or high school diploma.

These students are also a part of EMPLoY, and initiative promoted by Governor Jindal.

I just wanted to commend these young ladies on what they accomplished. Though they did not win their respective State offices, they particiapted in the training, wrote and delivered speeches in front of hundreds of critical on-lookers, and maintatined an air of dignity and respect for all to see. These lovely laides were up at 5am (Some earlier) to dress and prepare for the long trip and though they were all so nervous that they may have lost thier McDonald breakfast's, they all performed in front of the crowd like real professional speakers. With all their studying for GED's, learning Vocational skills, working part time jobs, and officer duties, it was amzing that they were able to write speeches for the race. Their were so many comments on how well behaved and how well they spoke, that I believed they would all sure to win their position in State. I wasn't to be, but I am so proud of these ladies for what they did and how they performed that I just had to write this so everyone would know how truly talented and gifted they are.
