IPSO deputies unnecessary accidents

IPSO deputies are getting into too many accidents. They drive very aggresive. They DO NOT own the streets. Even though they have their lights on, they are not careful when taking red lights. Too many times I have seen an accident almost happen when they take a red light. I have also seen some deputies turn on their lights just to take the red light and turn them off after they pass the light. They are abusing their authority. These accidents are preventable if they would just be more careful. Something needs to be done. Ackal needs to step up and do something about it before someone actually gets killed.

You will never know when they are responding to a call that could possibly be one of your family members. Please pay attention to your surroundings , accidents don't just happen to IPSO , it also happens with Ambulances. In many cases the ambulances were carrying patients ....how would you feel if you were not paying attention and wrecked into the ambulance carrying your family member . "

" To To I agree: I agree with you. A deputy shouldn't use a patrol unit to bring his girlfriend to lunch. There may be a policy against such a thing. It's possible it was his girlfriend, or it may have been someone else who works for the sheriff's department. Report him to the Patrol Captian and let him sort it out.

To D. Hertz: Oh please, all cars eventually need to be replaced. The sheriff's office needs reliable cars. I don't hold that against them. "

" I was in an accident with an emergency vehicle. I had a green light and did not see him coming because the intersection was partially blocked. He had his lights on but NO sirens. If he would have had his sirens maybe I would have seen him! He came through the intersection at a high rate of speed, as there were witnesses to state that fact. There is one fact that prooves Louis is making an effort to provide a better department. Louis has more certified Deputies on his parole than any other administration. This means the Deputy was sent to the Academy. This was one of his first and most important steps towards providing a more qualified deputy. " The original contract was nowhere close to the amount needed to provide adequate service to the City of New Iberia. If you buy cheap you get cheap. The Sheriff wants to provide the City with what he knows is the right amount of personnel. The previous administration tried to do the same job for less money and less patrolmen. You are correct. I do agree that there is alot to be desired when watching some of the driving you see, but the first thing that comes to mind is " where is he going?" I also agree that these guys aren't encouraged to drive this way. They are shown how to drive agressively, unlike the general public, so things may not seem to be what they are. You can be very agressive and still be safe about it. Some of these guys just don't seem to know the difference. "

But you can't complain that the deputies are abusing their position or authority by speeding or driving through an intersection. They are driving EMERGENCY vehicels. " Look up Louisiana Title 32. The La. traffic code. See how many you knew even existed. Then tell me how many of them you( perfect idiots) break everyday. There are several hundred of them and I doubt that you follow the law to the tee. Most of the drivers in the state only know what they learned in the study guide to take the driver's license test. " I'm sure Mr. Ackal had a supervisor brief the patrol officers about entering intersections for the billionth time. Some officers just don't get it and continue to be "above the law". These officers eventually kill or cripple innocent drivers and themselves. Their egos are huge, so that supervisor speech will last about a minute in the brain. They do, however, abuse their positions in other ways, as in using the patrol cars for personal use, ie: picking their children up from school or taking their girlfriends to lunch in them.

" Deputies respond to calls according to how urgent the nature of the call is. When you see one turn on his lights to pass through the intersection and then turn them back off, this means that he is responding to a call "CODE 2". This is a standard practice and they are not abusing their authority. How fast would you like to see them get to you if someone was in your home trying to hurt you? What can Louis do? He's stuck in his office trying to clean up the mess old Sid left him. "
