IPSO deputies unnecessary accidents

IPSO deputies are getting into too many accidents.  They drive very aggresive.  They DO NOT own the streets.  Even though they have their lights on, they are not careful when taking red lights.  Too many times I have seen an accident almost happen when they take a red light.   I have also seen some deputies turn on their lights just to take the red light and turn them off after they pass the light.  They are abusing their authority.  These accidents are preventable if they would just be more careful.  Something needs to be done.  Ackal needs to step up and do something about it before someone actually gets killed.

" I rarely see anyone move over or pull off to the side of the road for an Emergency vehicle coming through... You will never know when they are responding to a call that could possibly be one of your family members. Please pay attention to your surroundings , accidents don't just happen to IPSO , it also happens with Ambulances. In many cases the ambulances were carrying patients ....how would you feel if you were not paying attention and wrecked into the ambulance carrying your family member . "

Why dont you just move away and go bash another PD
If your not satisfied with the IPSO run for sheriff and see what kind of job you can do for NI, nothing different.
Then I can post that you and your depities are at the donut shop eating glazed donuts. "

It's possible it was his girlfriend, or it may have been someone else who works for the sheriff's department. Report him to the Patrol Captian and let him sort it out.

To D. Hertz: Oh please, all cars eventually need to be replaced. The sheriff's office needs reliable cars. I don't hold that against them. "

He knows all that is posted here and trust me when I say he was probably pi$$ed as heck to learn that the word got out that he was there again! After all, I do take vacations but, I don't get to take 5 in one year 2 weeks at a time. This doesn;t even include the other non-department related trips he's made! Did I touch a nerve with the truth? Remember while the cat is away, the mouse will play hence, Toby Hebert! "

And what you may not know is that after only a couple of days there, with concerns about taking care of his parish, he got back on a plane and flew back here cutting his vacation short. That's sounds like dedication to me!!!!! I personally like what Sheriff Louis Ackal is trying to do for Iberia Parish and have been told so by several of my fellow Iberians. "

He didn't stop to see if it was clear. I DO pay attention to emergency vehicles- when I SEE them. What has happened to Due Regard? "

Have you ever taken the time to think about how many situations the police may be responding to that requires them to respond in a descrete way? What about a burglry in progress call? Would you prefer them to run the loud siren and ANNOUNCE to the perp that they are close? This with hundreds of other types of calls require them to discretely show up to the scene. Wise up!! "

When lights and sirens stay on its a emergency where one of your family members can be hurt, life threatening injuries, fight in progress. Don't worry if the deputy is doing wrong they have tale tells on their units it lets administration know when they are speeding, and when eroute to a call what they are doing wrong. "

For one if you were to sit on Lewis St. and watch how many cars DOES NOT obey the law when it comes to emergency vehicles than you would get your answer. Fire Dept., Acadian, Sheriff how many of you people pull over to let these emergency vehicle through, not many at all. Do you realize that the fire dept is now also responding to medical calls also with Acadian, and that the Sheriff dept is going to the calls. "

What you fail to realize is the citizens of the city of New Iberia voted to have things the way they are. Trust me when I say, the mayor doesn't want a police department either. If she had her own police department, that would take money away from the Civic Center she wants to build. She too talks out of both sides! "

There is one fact that prooves Louis is making an effort to provide a better department. Louis has more certified Deputies on his parole than any other administration. This means the Deputy was sent to the Academy. This was one of his first and most important steps towards providing a more qualified deputy. What facts can you provide to proove he is not doing his job. You can put any JOE BLOW in there. The deputy makes the department not the Sheriff. These are the same guys, just better equipt and educated. "

To To My thoughts wrote on Oct 29, 2009 9:43 AM:

" Again I am not blaming the previous administration for the crime rates at this time. I again say My only problem with the previous administration was the decision to provide law enforcement for the City of New Iberia. This has prooved to be a big mistake. Most of the same deputies that worked for Sid still work for Louis. They did a good job then and are still doing a good job!!

I can't see how anyone can blame Sid or Louis for how many criminals we have in the Parish. This contract thing is just a mess for everyone. "

" Again you blame SID. If I recall correctly, Louis Ackal ran for sheriff and won. Now he needs to step up and do the JOB he was elected to do! To continue to blame it on the previous administration is just NOT acceptable any more. Crime is more previlant today with Louis in office and NO ONE can deny it. Bottom line is quit whining and solve the problem. "

To To My thoughts wrote on Oct 28, 2009 4:04 PM:

" The original contract was nowhere close to the amount needed to provide adequate service to the City of New Iberia. If you buy cheap you get cheap. The Sheriff wants to provide the City with what he knows is the right amount of personnel. The previous administration tried to do the same job for less money and less patrolmen. They couldn't keep up and the crime rates rose out of control. Louis wants a better department and thats going to cost. If not, you get what you pay for. "

My Thoughts wrote on Oct 28, 2009 2:37 PM:

" We can go at it all day long. The point is, every administration has had problems. They have all worked through them. My only problem with Sid is the stupid mistake of thinking he could provide law enforcement to the City of New Iberia at a fraction of the cost. He had no way of staffing the Department. He made no preperation prior to taking over and was left with extremely slow response times and very few Deputies who were used to dealing with the City. This prooved to be idiotic. Now who's left with the mess!! "

My Thoughts wrote on Oct 28, 2009 11:59 AM:

    " To D. Hertz:

You are correct. I do agree that there is alot to be desired when watching some of the driving you see, but the first thing that comes to mind is " where is he going?" I also agree that these guys aren't encouraged to drive this way. They are shown how to drive agressively, unlike the general public, so things may not seem to be what they are. You can be very agressive and still be safe about it. Some of these guys just don't seem to know the difference. "

" Louis has no problem showing the books to you or anyone else who wants to see where the money is being spent. Have you noticed that there are deputies patroling now. Do you notice that it nolonger takes an hour or more for a deputy to arrive at the scene of an accident. Did you notice that we have deputies in the Parish that patrol now. I didn't see a singal Deputy in my subdivision for the first three years I lived there. Now we do. Can you explain where he's failing. I've mentioned a few improvements. "

My Thoughts wrote on Oct 28, 2009 10:05 AM:

" Yes you are correct! The officer is responsible for the accident. I'm not defending anyone who decides to drive like a fool. But you can't complain that the deputies are abusing their position or authority by speeding or driving through an intersection. They are driving EMERGENCY vehicels. Without knowing why he/she is driving this way, how can you make such a statement. If you hit someone while driving foolish you will be held accountable. "

When exactly do YOU propose he will start doing that and STOP whining about SID HEBERT? "MY THOUGHTS", you are obviously in the inside looking out and you defend Louis' excuses maybe you can tell us when Louis will get busy doing the job he was elected to do and quit complaining? "

Louis may not need the "BS" but he chose to tak eit on so, be a man and take responsibility. To continue to blame 17 months down the road is ludicrous. If Louis really cared, he would see the citizens that go to his office to speak with him daily and listen to their complaints/concerns but, in stead he chooses to vacation in Colorado away from the reality of a department he_can't_handle. "

To To My Thoughts wrote on Oct 28, 2009 7:50 AM:

Mr. Hebert is obviously doing what he was hired to do...who better than someone who does not have a vested interest locally. Accordingly he owes NO-ONE! Keep up the good work Sheriff Ackal and Mr. Hebert!! "

He bleeped his siren as he entered the intersection and crashed into a young guy who was proceeding through a green light traveling west on Dale St.
There were many people who saw this.
Only a few bold people came forward to tell the truth of what happened. In an emergency, even cops, have to yield at an intersection. He could have crippled that poor kid. "

A Sheriff's department not a City Police Department. Sid lied to get his big fat raise. He left us unprotected and understaffed. I don't blame Louis for trying anything to get rid of the City Law enforcment duties. It belongs to the City. Time will tell with this Toby Hebert. My point is the same as the Ackal camps' concern was back then....Toby Hebert has NO vested interest in Iberia Parish as he nor his family sleep here so, why should he care what happens in the department "

These officers eventually kill or cripple innocent drivers and themselves. Their egos are huge, so that supervisor speech will last about a minute in the brain.
