Mary P. Davis Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia for Mary Powell Davis, 54, who passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, in New Iberia. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Pastor Terry Lee Bernard will be officiating. Born on Oct. 7, 1955, Mary Powell Davis worked for the New Iberia Chamber of Commerce for 18 years where she helped a host of people and businesses in the community. Mary was also very active with the Gumbo Cook-Off for 12 years. She inspired many family and friends and raised her grandchildren Shalara Wells, Allison Wells, Sunsiouxra Fields, Semaj Wells and Jeremiah Wells, as well as her great-granddaughter Caemiri Wells. Mary was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, aunt and friend. Survivors include her husband, Larry Davis of New Iberia; her mother, Pecola Aubrey, of St. Martinville; two daughters Righanelle Wells Flugence and husband Joseph of Lafayette, Shalare Powell of New Iberia; one son, Joseph Boutte and fiancé Janis Francisco of New Iberia; five sisters, Evelyn Wells, Barbara Ester, Yvonne Cushingberry, Lenora Taylor and Daphaney Mitchell; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her father, Ervin Boutte; one brother, Ronald Herman Boutte; maternal grandparents, Joseph Aubrey and Evelyn Wells; and a one great-grandson Elijah Johnson. A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday from 8 a.m. until time of service at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia.
