A New Iberia woman was charged Thursday in Atlanta with robbing the Capital One bank Wednesday on Admiral Doyle Drive.

Shavon Tardy, 20, was arrested at a bus station by the U.S. Marshals Service. An Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman said the woman was recognized “when her picture was shown by the media after the robbery.”

Authorities said investigators received several tips she fled the area after the robbery on a bus to Atlanta.

The Capital One was robbed Wednesday afternoon after a woman wearing large white sunglasses passed a threatening note to a teller demanding $6,000. No one was injured in the robbery, and authorities said no weapons were used.

The Sheriff’s Office said some of the money was recovered. It was not immediately clear when the woman would be extradited.
