A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m., with the recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral home will reopen on Friday from 8 a.m. until services.
Doris departed this life and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009. She was born in New Iberia to Wade J. and Anna Mae Savoy Broussard on Jan. 9, 1934. Doris was a great mom, homemaker, daughter, sister and friend. She was VP of the bookkeeping department for People’s Bank for many years and was a proof operator at New Iberia National Bank. Mom enjoyed her time with her family, cooking, craft making, crocheting and shopping.

She leaves behind her children Brenda (Harlan) Hassen of Jonesboro, Ark., W.R. Ross (Nita) Darbonne of New Iberia and Lenora (Dexter) Richard of New Iberia; her grandchildren Kimberly (Ronny) Thibodeaux of Breaux Bridge, Tomie (Brandon) Rowe of Jonesboro, Ark., Sami Jo Darbonne of New Iberia, Brent (Brooke) Richard of New Iberia, Brock (Debbie) Richard of New Iberia, Gypsy (Tommy) Derouen of New Iberia, Dodie Ransonet of New Iberia and Erica Simon of New Iberia. She leaves behind 15 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her stepchildren R.T. (Ann) Vann of Cedartown, Ga. and Margo G. Vann; seven step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Allen (Bonnie) Broussard of Rennesslear, Ind., Wade (Carol) Broussard of New Iberia, Warren (Peggy) Broussard of New Iberia and Willien (Annette) Broussard of New Iberia; and her sisters Gloria Lopez of New Iberia and Sally (David) Harper of DeRidder.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence R. Vann Jr.; her parents, Wade and Anna Mae Broussard; sister Virginia and her beloved dog and companion for many years “Jolie.”
Pallbearers will be Dexter Richard, Harlan Hassen, Warren Broussard, Ronny Thibodeaux, Lane Thibodeaux, Brent Richard and Brock Richard.
Lasting memorials may be made in Mrs. Vann’s name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
Evangeline Funeral Home, 314 East Saint Peter St., New Iberia, 364-1881, is in charge of arrangements.
