Champagne - Ashy

Konni Kay Champagne and Douglas Jeffrey “D.J.” Ashy III were married on Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lafayette. The bride is the daughter of Karl Champagne and Janice Champagne, both of New Iberia, and the groom is the son of Ginger and Douglas Jeffery Ashy Jr. of Lafayette.

Escorted by her father, Karl, the bride wore a strapless, ivory-colored silk satin dress with a chapel train, pearl broach and satin ribbon detail. She carried a bouquet of white hydrangea embellished with white roses and mini calla lilies wrapped in satin ribbon.

Kylie Champagne, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Katie Deranger Bell served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Karly Champagne Haik, sister of the bride, Jill Ashy Desormeaux, sister of the groom, Lacy Dubroc, Casey Quebedeaux Hollander, Meryl Bertrand and Mikie Guidry. Madison and Maegan Champagne, nieces of the bride, served as flower girls.

George Pena served as best man. Groomsmen were Paul Crochet, Todd McCormick, Timothy Zaunbrecher, Jonathon Johnson, Carl Fruge, Brannon Williams and Travis Theunissen. Ushers were Scott Gage, Patrick Reed, Alan White, Robert Guidry and Chris Noto. Other members of the bridal party included Lauren Ashy and Cullen Ashy, cousins of the groom, Angela Babineaux, godmother of the bride and Phillip Brupbacher.

A reception was held for family and friends at Keith’s Ballroom. Following a wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Lafayette.
