DISGUSTED AND ASHAMED

I attended the Emergency City Council meeting last night.  I am extremely disappointed in our council members, especially Freddie Decourt and Robert Suire.  After Louis Ackal makes a public spectacle of himself and threatens the citizens of New Iberia caved in to his demands.  This is not the first time either!  Several weeks ago, he was granted $700,000 after he ranted and raved that he could not operate on the contracted amount for city enforcement.  That just helped him pay off one loan.  He comes back again this week and threatens to remove city enforcement until his demands are met.  After discussion (and an agreed  amount previously discussed in a meeting with Gov. Jindal), the council met his demands again.  However, Mr. Ackal was still dissatisfied with the agreed upon amount and requested even more money!  Which was granted!  How many times are we going to allow this man to hold us hostage by threats!  If he cannot provide the protection we need, bring back the Police Department!  We could have started it up again with the amounts that were given to him in the last few weeks.  And, as for Mr. Decourt and Mr. Suire, why were they siding with this maniac?  Do they have a separate agenda they are working on?  Mr. Suire's daughter is employed by the Sheriff's Dept.  Is this not a conflict of interest?  I promised you, I will not vote for any politicians who use such tactics to get what he wants or for any politicians who cannot stand up against big bullies and stand up for what is right for the citizens that elected them into office.  Good luck, Citizens!  What are we going to have to give up or pay more for now because Ackal cannot learn how to live within a budget!
