“My passion for running for Parish Council is inspired by my desire to help create a safer New Iberia for the people, especially for our children based on the principles of God in whom our forefathers fought so hard to build this nation on,” Darby said this week. “I feel as though I can serve the people in District 5, and throughout New Iberia, with sincerity because my focus is for all people of all creeds and gender.”

“We need to hate what God hates and love what God loves,” Darby said.
“I firmly believe that with the help of the Lord and the unity of the people in New Iberia we can pave a way for our children to walk in honesty, love and loyalty, and in obedience, and holiness, where they can learn and grow to serve the city of New Iberia with integrity, trust and dignity because the children are our future leaders. I also believe with much prayer we have much power. With less prayers we have less power. With no prayer we have no power.”
She has been married to Erick Darby for 13 years, is the daughter of Daniel and Patricia Wilson of New Iberia, is a graduate of Acadian Christian Academy — at which she was voted class valedictorian — and is a “born-again Christian and a lay minister and a children’s minister.”
